About the Company:

Orchard View Living Centres (OVLC) is privately owned and operated company. We currently operate three Retirement Homes in Ottawa South and are expanding into the Ottawa West area.

Job Summary

The Payroll and Accounting Clerk will be responsible for providing business support to the Finance and Accounting Department and reports directly to the Controller. The individual will provide analytical strength, and assist in providing timely and useful information in support of business decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Process Accounts Payable (file labeling, matching, coding, invoice entry, payment processing, and account reconciliations);

Billings and other Accounts Receivable related activities (file labeling, generate and enter invoices, prepare monthly AR aging reports);

Assist Managers in collecting and verifying employee hours’ worked via the Time and Attendance Management software;

Processing bi-weekly payroll for multiple locations/entities;

Enrolling new employees in the Time and Attendance Management software and Payroll systems;

Review timesheets against payroll edits from the payroll service provider;

Assist with administration of the Canada Savings Bond and Good Life Fitness programs;

Assist with Benefit plan administration (e.g. enrolling employees, assistance to employees, etc;

Complete bi-weekly, monthly and annual reports related to payroll;

Complete deposit slips and bank deposits;

Assist with preparing bank reconciliations and other cash management;

Assist with preparing journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for month and year end procedures;

Assist with review of financial statements and variances analysis;

Assist with monthly, quarterly, annual HST, WSIB, EHT and Source Deductions filing

Maintain an accurate filing system

Complete other tasks as requested.


Minimum three years’ experience in an accounts payable / receivable and payroll administration role.


Minimum of a three-year Business Administration / Accounting program.

A preference will be given for candidates who have or are currently pursuing an accounting or payroll professional designation.
