Babcock Canada is supporting a number of business development activities from our parent company including Babcock’s nuclear business, which trades under the name Cavendish Nuclear Ltd.

We are currently recruiting a Business Development Assistant who will provide support to Cavendish Nuclear Ltd, as well as support to the broader business development team at Babcock Canada. This is a permanent position in the Ottawa office with a competitive salary and benefits package. The successful candidate will report to the Director- Canadian Business for Cavendish Nuclear; additionally, the candidate will provide support to the VP Business Development, Marine & Technology.

The duties of this position are broken down approximately as follows:

20% clerical (various)

20% project & financial administration

10% marketing

20% event management

20% bid proposal support

The principal tasks and responsibilities entail:

Provide support to Cavendish Nuclear and Babcock Canada’s business development team

Assist with Internal Project planning and execution

Assist with proposal preparation

Organize, assist, and participate in customer relations events (Conferences, networking, charitable events)

Assist with the development and monitoring of a marketing plan

Acquire and/or recommend promotional material

Assist with the development of ads and brochures

Support and organize Trade Show booths, events and Exhibitions

Maintain financial & invoice records sheet

Purchasing

Maintain/ update business contact list

Assist with the preparation and update of power point presentations

Perform business opportunity environmental scans (MERX system etc

Research and analyse various industry information

Assist marketing officer in developing and creating marketing material

Organize travel for Business Development Team, as required

Track ongoing business opportunities/ bid submissions

Provide support to visitors from Babcock International Group, Cavendish Nuclear Ltd and affiliate/partner companies doing work in Canada

Assist in the development and refinement of internal business processes

Interface with colleagues in Babcock International and Cavendish Nuclear to stay updated on new marketing material, updated processes and procedures etc.

Make updates to Business Development processes and procedures in the Agility system, as required

Create and manage SharePoint sites and site security

The job qualifications and requirements include:

Eligible for Secret Security clearance

A diploma or degree in a related field such as Engineering, Business and/or Administration, Commerce, or any other relevant post-secondary educational qualification

Relevant Experience in an office environment is highly desired

Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalents; advanced skills an asset)

Time management and organizational skill

Good interpersonal skills

Innovative and able to solve problems

Ability to perform customer relations type activities (proven experience an asset)

Flexible to work overtime and travel occasionally

Knowledge of SharePoint is an asset
