Northern Youth Abroad (NYA) is looking for Host Families all across Canada to host our Program Participants, aged 15 to 20, for 5 weeks from July 1st - August 5th. Each Host Family must be able to accommodate 2 youth.
NYA is a non-profit organization that enables youth living in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories to earn high school credits, gain hands-on work experience, and build leadership skills and healthy self-confidence through cross-cultural learning experiences in southern Canada and abroad. This year, we are proud to support 40 Participants in our Canadian Program.
We are looking for Host Families to who want to spend time with the youth, provide them with a supportive home-away-from-home, and include them in their daily family activities. The youth will spend their weekdays volunteering at a pre-arranged work placement, leaving evenings and weekends free to get involved in their host communities, make new friends, and go sightseeing.
This is a great opportunity to get to know 2 youth from Nunavut/Northwest Territories, learn a bit about their cultures, and facilitate life-changing summer experiences for them! Host Families will be provided with a modest stipend to help cover the costs of room and board.
